Summary

Alex Stern returns in another tale of murder and dark magic set among the Ivy League elite…

Galaxy “Alex” Stern is determined to break Darlington out of hell—even if it costs her a future at Lethe and at Yale。 But Alex is playing with forces far beyond her control, and when faculty members begin to die off, she knows these aren’t just accidents。 Something deadly is at work in New Haven, and if Alex is going to survive, she'll have to reckon with the monsters of her past and a darkness built into the university's very walls。

This is a very interesting view of Steve Jobs by the mother of his daughter, Lisa (although he denied he was her father, despite paternity tests) and his childhood sweetheart。 She doesn't think the film goes far enough in depicting his character truthfully。 I am sure Read full review This is a very interesting view of Steve Jobs by the mother of his daughter, Lisa (although he denied he was her father, despite paternity tests) and his childhood sweetheart。 She doesn't think the film goes far enough in depicting his character truthfully。 I am sure Read full review 。。。more

I complained endlessly about the first book and how many problems I had with it and how I did NOT enjoy it at all。 Therefore I'm obviously going to read the rest of the series I complained endlessly about the first book and how many problems I had with it and how I did NOT enjoy it at all。 Therefore I'm obviously going to read the rest of the series 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was able to get my hands on an advance copy throygh my work。 I enjoyed how we got to know Turner and Dawes more in this book and as always I'm obsessed with the magic systems that Leigh Bardugo creates。 She definitely expands on the existibg magic system in Hell Bent。 It isn't five stars because I wouldn't say that I'm as in love with this sequel as I am with the first book, though the ending in this one has better pacing than in Ninth House。 I was able to get my hands on an advance copy throygh my work。 I enjoyed how we got to know Turner and Dawes more in this book and as always I'm obsessed with the magic systems that Leigh Bardugo creates。 She definitely expands on the existibg magic system in Hell Bent。 It isn't five stars because I wouldn't say that I'm as in love with this sequel as I am with the first book, though the ending in this one has better pacing than in Ninth House。 。。。more

I hope this sequel goes balls to the walls。Because I read Six of Crows, I realized that Leigh Bardugo followed a similar pattern in which both the plot and character development is very slow burn, so I was able to enjoy Ninth House knowing what to expect。 Though with Six of Crows, we have multiple character perspectives to prevent the reader from feeling bored。 In Ninth House, we only switch between two characters。 And while I understand why this may be frustrating for some readers, knowing what I hope this sequel goes balls to the walls。Because I read Six of Crows, I realized that Leigh Bardugo followed a similar pattern in which both the plot and character development is very slow burn, so I was able to enjoy Ninth House knowing what to expect。 Though with Six of Crows, we have multiple character perspectives to prevent the reader from feeling bored。 In Ninth House, we only switch between two characters。 And while I understand why this may be frustrating for some readers, knowing what I know of Leigh Bardugo, all that signals to me is that Hell Bent will be just as GLORIOUS as Crooked Kingdom!! 。。。more

Take six copies of Ninth House, throw them in a blender, and from the distilled and concentrated remainders you get Hell Bent。 If you enjoyed Ninth House, you’ll like this one even more。 If, like me, you found it to be exhausting and poorly paced with an internal logic that just didn’t quite gel (I’m sorry, WHEN exactly is Alex supposed to be doing her Ivy-league level coursework?) then…。 yeah, prepare for more of the same。 I felt Hell Bent did have a little more emotional heft, probably because Take six copies of Ninth House, throw them in a blender, and from the distilled and concentrated remainders you get Hell Bent。 If you enjoyed Ninth House, you’ll like this one even more。 If, like me, you found it to be exhausting and poorly paced with an internal logic that just didn’t quite gel (I’m sorry, WHEN exactly is Alex supposed to be doing her Ivy-league level coursework?) then…。 yeah, prepare for more of the same。 I felt Hell Bent did have a little more emotional heft, probably because we know the characters a bit more, and there were a few parts that I found genuinely compelling。 Otherwise, this was not a favorite read of mine。 。。。more

Though the pacing was slow and the novel contained a lot more world building than I had anticipated for a sequel, it was very enjoyable once things picked up。 Alex's struggle with her personal morality is put to the test many times and she comes to terms with the fact that she is not a "do the right thing" heroine。 I also really enjoyed that a lot of the side characters got to be fleshed out much more, like Darlington and Dawes, even Turner and Mercy had their time in the spotlight。 I really enj Though the pacing was slow and the novel contained a lot more world building than I had anticipated for a sequel, it was very enjoyable once things picked up。 Alex's struggle with her personal morality is put to the test many times and she comes to terms with the fact that she is not a "do the right thing" heroine。 I also really enjoyed that a lot of the side characters got to be fleshed out much more, like Darlington and Dawes, even Turner and Mercy had their time in the spotlight。 I really enjoyed that Leigh delved further into the discussions of magic in this dark academia setting of a higher education institution that has accumulated magic throughout centuries。 She critiques how the magic was accumulated and at what cost to whom and she questions the privileges of who has access to this power。 I highly recommend this series for fans of dark academia。 。。。more

i really thought i was racing through ninth house when i was reading it but having just finished hell bent, i can say i DEVOURED that book like nothing despite doing my most amount of reading on the two days i was working。 this book is one i can gladly say that the sequel held up to its expectations and went beyond them too and didn’t fall into the whole “sequel is worse than the first book” thing that can happen in a multiple-books series。 the mystery aspect was just as fun to attempt to unrave i really thought i was racing through ninth house when i was reading it but having just finished hell bent, i can say i DEVOURED that book like nothing despite doing my most amount of reading on the two days i was working。 this book is one i can gladly say that the sequel held up to its expectations and went beyond them too and didn’t fall into the whole “sequel is worse than the first book” thing that can happen in a multiple-books series。 the mystery aspect was just as fun to attempt to unravel, however it wasn’t as much of a focal point in this book as it was in ninth house for two reasons。 1) ninth house’s mystery helped to build the secret world the book was set in as well as giving us a backstory to many characters。 2) the main focus of this book was clearly about bringing back darlington from hell so of course there was going to be more of a focus on that part of the book’s plot whilst still leaning into the whole murder mystery very well。 i love how much time we got to spend with the characters we got to know and love in ninth house and expanding on them as characters not just filler。 turner was such a fun guy in book one but after having read hell bent, i have to say i’m in love (darlington is for alex you know /jk)。 i was so happy to see the emotional and character growth we see alex undergo which was something i was really excited to see after ninth house, we’re really getting more into her as a person as we go and i loved it。 i will say this book isn’t as a graphic as NH but it still did scared me at one point (in a good way)。 there were also so many great comedic scenes, i genuinely had to put the book down so i wouldn’t make a lot of noise when reading, as i tried to stop myself from laughing out loud。 i love the different dynamics between characters that we got to see more of。 there’s so much more i want to say but can’t until the book’s out but you should seriously preorder hell bent and pick up ninth house if you haven’t yet★★★★★ 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 La copertina fa presagire più stranezza, culto e probabilmente qualche viaggetto nell’inferno e purgatorio, ironico considerando che nel libro ci sono ruoli quali Dante e Virgilio, no? E io sono qui per questo
